ORSA MAGGIORE ADVENTURES - Stockholm Vintage Guide

The week we spent in Stockholm was such an experience that I couldn't resist to share with you some of the best moments.

The main reason of our trip was the marathon, but I managed to stuff in as much vintage shops and Swedish design temples as possible ;) not to mention the gorgeous apartment where we stayed...after the jump you can find all the details of the places a vintage fan shouldn't miss when visiting Stockholm
And good news if you are not able to visit this Nordic gem soon - you don't even have to go there to shop there - most of the cool shops have even cooler webshops!

A weekend in Stockholm
Stockholm Sodermalm disctrict

In my opinion the best is to find an apartment, since Stockholm is not the cheapest, probably you don't want to eat out every day, and having your own flat/room lets you experience the city more the local way. The public transportation is great, with the metro it's easy to reach everything, so we just decided to buy a tourist pass (transport+free entrance to all of the museums) and explore the city on foot

I've found this gorgeous place on airbnb, unfortunately the owner told us that they were about to sell the flat, but I saw a lot of other beautiful houses as well when I did my research - just try book as early as you can!

Unfortunately I did not take photos there, this one is from here

Honestly for me the restaurants of Stockholm were not the best part of the trip, we had some decent dinners but anything very remarkable (even if I am aware that the Nordic cuisine is getting all the major awards lately...)

This place though has a unique laid back-chic atmosphere, nice food, the prices are okay and staff was very kind (Swedish people in general were very helpful)

I won't speak about the usual tourist attractions, just to mention a few things

as I wrote above, in my opinion it's totally worth to buy it. May seem a bit expensive, but if you would like to see a lot of things and you start to count all the entrance fees and public transport tickets, you will realise that it's really convenient.
You get unlimited public transport and all the museums for free plus we took the boat excursion as well for free with the card and it was really-really interesting - try it if you can!

I've found it on tripadvisor and seemed interesting, the guides don't get paid except the tips they get at the end of the tours from the participants.
First of all it's really not obligatory to tip, if you are traveling on a low budget and you are not able to tip them it's really okay, you may leave a nice feedback for the guide on tripadvisor.
Do not expect a very professional tour, you should be aware that it's a bit more unusual, more like a nice walk in the center of Stockholm with a bunch of friendly people and a nice guide who shows you a lot of interesting things (besides showing the main attractions, our guide told us a lot of gossips, showed us the gym where the crown princess met her future husband, who was a trainer there and now became a prince...).
So i would say that you probably won't hear there everything about the city, but it's pretty interesting. Probably the best is to do it on the first day, to get to know Stockholm a bit.

I went to a few museums, for example the old ship called "Vasa" is pretty interesting as well, but the only one I would like to really mention here is the museum of modern arts called "Moderna Museet", it is located on Skeppsholmen, a beautiful island in central Stockholm and has an amazing collection from the most important modern artists

You can find all the necessary info on their site

That's it, if you read it all you should be very curious, so here you are, a few pictures of us as well - me in a coffeeshop and my boyfriend doing the marathon :)

And one more last thing, if you are looking for really good insider tips, head to Emmas design blog, it was the most useful source I've found for this trip

Feedbacks are really appreciated, please let me know what you think!
